Go Wireless--Bluetooth,ZigBee

If you have wondered, why some people are talking as if in the air, it is because they are actually having phone conversations through a miniature headset mounted on their ear and connected to a cell phone somewhere nearby. This is all happening because of a short-range wireless technology called Bluetooth. The other common Bluetooth enabled devices around are cordless keyboards and mouse's. Believe me it is a great way to clear the mesh of wires around your computer. Bluetooth is now enabled in an array of products like PCs, Cameras, GPS devices, Handhelds, Cars and the list is growing everyday. After all it is making life easier then ever. The latest Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) operates in the data rate up to 3 Mbps in the global 2.4 GHz Industrial, Scientific, Medical (ISM) frequency band.Guys go get yourself some Bluetooth gadgets.

Having seen the popularity of the Bluetooth going up steeply over the last few years, the electrical/medical and other industries are thinking of getting a wireless experience in other products/gadgets ranging from tube lights, to lawn sprinklers.
Because Bluetooth has higher power consumption, lower range, limit on the number of devices it can handle and meant for higher data rates, another wireless standard ZigBee based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for a low data rate wireless personal area network (WPAN) has been created specifically for control and sensor networks. It operates in the data rate of 250 kbps in the global 2.4 GHz Industrial, Scientific, Medical (ISM) frequency band. ZigBee obtains its overall low power consumption because the majority of network devices are able to remain inactive over long periods of time. So next time you are buying a microwave or table lamps ask if they are ZigBee enabled. Soon you will be controlling everything around your house from a single ZigBee controller from the comforts of your bed.

The ZigBee protocol will be extensively used in times to come particularly where things are idle for long time as it requires lesser power consumption.while going through the Zigbee site it dawned upon me the tremdous opportunity in electronics particularly medical electronics.I forsee a lot number of critically ill patients will get alot benefitted by use of this protocol in medical electronics. In India where the number of high level medical facilities and doctors are in limited numbers this could prove to be a real boon for doctors as well as patients.Very informative and good article

can you add range of low power for zigbee interface
