Near Field Communication (NFC)

A new technology has joined already established device-to-device wireless communication technologies Bluetooth , RFID and ZigBee and it is called Near Field Communication or NFC for short. Near Field Communication (NFC) is a wireless connectivity technology that enables convenient short-range communication between electronic devices. NFC is an open platform technology standardized in ECMA-340 and ISO/IEC 18092. These standards specify the modulation schemes; coding, transfer speeds and frame format of the RF interface of NFC devices. It will operate within the globally available and unlicensed ISM RF band of 13.56 MHz with a range of 0-20 centimeters and data rates of 106 Kbit /s, 212 Kbit /s or 424 Kbit /s. When r NFC-enabled devices are close together, they automatically initiate network communications without requiring the user to configure the setup. NFC-enhanced consumer devices can easily exchange and store your personal data - messages, pictures, MP3 files, etc. The new AT&...

ZigBee for Mobile Device

According to the latest release from ZigBee® Alliance, a new initiative has been launched to extend Zigbee capability to Zigbee to mobile phone users. This would allow services to secure mobile payment, information delivery, health care monitoring, peer-to-peer small data sharing and other location based services and features. ZigBee mobile devices will either have embedded ZigBee technology or will be using a ZigBee SIM card. These devices act as a mobile terminal and/or as a sensor control device anywhere there is a ZigBee network or ZigBee access point. Potential applications currently in development include: Secure Mobile Payments: Mobile users pay for goods and services by waving handset in front of scanner and entering a pin number Information Delivery: Users receive news, downloads (messages, ring tones, images, etc.), advertisements from network operators or localized information such as weather, traffic updates and movie show times based on their current location or neighborho...

Malware: Spyware, Adware,Virus,et al.

If you do not have any protection on your PC and it is behaving erratically; you are most likely to be infected with vicious software called Malware . According statistics collected by InfectedOrNot .com, more than half the computers scanned by them were infected with some kind of malware . Almost 70% of the non protected computers and almost 50% of the protected computers are infected by some form of malware . Panda Software who are behind website the InfectedOrNot .com,claims that their goal is to raise awareness about these widespread infections (besides the promotion of their new tools, of course). The website allows you to use their Panda Nano Scan and Panda Total Scan tools for free and, more importantly, it displays the collected stats from all the scans performed at the website in the past 24 hours. Now many of these so called malware detection and removal websites, are in fact responsible for installing their own malware , so beware of these impostors.I am not sure if this I...

Good Bye

A poem in honour of a departing friend. GOODBYE It is all mixed feeling Right now, Sad, you will not be here. Happy, a bright future is waiting there. Several memories we share together, Warm sunrise, on soft sands of Jekyll Islands. Cold sunset, on muddy beaches of Simon Islands. Life is like a microchip, Hardwired at every step, You have to just, follow it. You are going to have lots of fun. Are you going to remember us then? At least, call with exciting news now and then. In the world of impermanence, Who knows about next instance? Nonetheless, we will stay in touch with our divine-self. It is time of separation. We say good-bye with salutation, Cheers, Laughter and Jingle Bells.

Neonode N2--"iPhone Killer"

Image
Most of you thought that " UpStage ' was no where near iPhone but I am sure you are not going to say the same thing about Neonode N2 . N2 like iPhone has a touch screen and operates one-hand one-thumb mode which is missing in UpStage . It works in quad band-which means anywhere in the world, operates on Windows Mobile, plays MP3,uses miniSD cards, has Bluetooth , 2- magapixel camera and much more. Since Apple is going to be available only through new at&t other carriers will has go for other worthy competitors and this one definitely stands out.

coupons & online deals

You do not have to check all that mail to collect the desired coupons anymore, man it is headache to open all those envelopes .All discount coupons and merchant deals are available online.Of course, we have hundreds of websites to look at for these free coupons and you really have to good at searching the web to get all the available deals and discounts. One thing that puzzles me, is that many of these deals/discounts are not available at the merchant website but only at these coupon websites. So if you are buying say some Dell merchandise do not look at just the Dell website, check out at other coupon websites as well. Here are some Dell Coupons for shopping at their online store.Happy Shopping folks Please Note:-This is a sponsored and paid post for couponchief.

UpStage--Ahead of iPhone?

Image
With the launching of SPH-m620 "UpStage" dual-faced music phone Samsung, has come up with a smart package ahead of Apple’s iPhone. Keeping the look and feel of the phone alive on one side, gives them a big advantage over iPhone, were there is no keypad. Using a key-pad less phone is going to a huge mind-set change for the subscribers and we will have to wait and see how subscribers adapt to this change. This phone offers a microSD slot for up to 2GB of external storage, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and stereo Bluetooth. Also included is a Music Manager Application for sideloading tunes to the phone via USB. And looking at the price tag of $149 on a two-year agreement with a $50 rebate through Sprint, it cost just 25% of what an iPhone is going to cost. Sprint will be offering 99 cent over the air (nice!) music downloads well on its entire Music Store catalog. Except for a small screen I think "UpStage” have all the features to seriously challenge unreleased iPhone.

Reusing the Obsolete

As you, folks know I am ardent supporter of re-cycling and will encourage all and one, helping the cause of avoiding techno-trash. Many broken electronic items/systems can be fixed just with a replacement of a one or two components but with Moore's law still going strong even after thirty years, it hard to source most of these components, as they are declared obsolete within just a year or two. Internet shopping is changing all this, as you are now able to finds these Obsolete Semiconductors rather easily. You can find all kind of obsolete devises like Diodes, ICs , distributors, relays, flash memories and all other stuff on websites like 4 starelectronics .With their obsolete part search utility, you can search a database of more than 15000000 new, obsolete and discontinued components. Many of the legacy systems are still operational due to some diligent efforts from dedicated hardware engineers, who take every effort to keep them running and my Hats off! to them. The only concern...

Mobile TV the Digital Video Broadcasting- Handheld Version

In the past year, Mobile TV watchers have double for three to currently seven millions and TV network people have great hopes for 2007. I must admit that I am surprised with these figures. One of the many Mobile TV flavors in the market is “Modeo” and they have put up a trial network in New York market and are soon expected to start in other markets as well. So far, they have not been successful in tying-up with any mobile carrier which making it a hard sell for them but I think their underlying technology is proven and cost-effective. Modeo is based on DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting - Transmission System for Handheld Terminals) that is offshoot of DVB-T (DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial). The digitization of traditional broadcast systems has made significant progress in recent years. This development could be observed recently with respect to the standard for digital terrestrial television, DVB-T, which is already in operation in many countries throughout the world. ...

Unified Field Theory---String Theory & Causal Dynamical Triangulation (CDT)

Image
A recent article in Scientific America renewed my interest in the Unified Field Theory after a long time. When I left my post-graduate physics class some twenty years back, we were still trying to solve the equations derived from Quark Theory and had just started to get some explanation on Black Holes. Though the wheels for postulating a unified theory had been in motion for many years, things looked still very vague.Last few decades have seen a great progress in explaining most of the universe as it exists today and the dream of unified field theory may actually come true, though we may not be able to validate it for few more centuries. Let me try to explain, this highly complex and mathematical world in words. There are four fundamental forces in the universe: gravity, electromagnetism, and the weak and strong nuclear forces. Each of these is produced by fundamental particles that act as carriers of the force. It has been the endeavor of all theoretical physicists to explain all f...
